HELP ON THE WAY FOR COVID-19 AFFECTED SMALL BUSINESS

BUSINESS owners across Southern Queensland have been crippled by the threat of Coronavirus but additional funding has been provided to expand existing financial counselling services.
The Rural Financial Counselling Service Southern Queensland (RFCSSQ) has been granted additional funds by the Queensland Government to provide financial counselling services to small and medium businesses (SME’s) impacted by Coronavirus in Southern Queensland.
Forced to shut down or struggling to stay viable, SME’s are desperately trying to keep business models afloat.

“Australians are embracing self-isolation to protect themselves and their family but small businesses are feeling the strain,” RFCSSQ CEO, Jenny Whip said.
The service has Small Business Financial Counsellors available to guide small and medium-sized businesses in their search for financial and business support and the number of counsellors has just increased.

“We provide free, independent, confidential, financial support to businesses who are experiencing financial hardship and the number of businesses seeking support has been alarming.”
Services offered by the RFCSSQ include access to government assistance through grants, programs and schemes as well as professional support.
“Since 2006, our rural financial counsellors have been assisting primary producers and small businesses to navigate the maze of support mechanisms and providing assistance at very tough times.”

“Our small business counsellors can provide options including providing cash flow projections and preparing budgets.”
“The experienced counsellors can also assist with setting a plan to manage creditor commitments and repayments as well as financier negotiations.”
Mrs Whip urged small businesses to contact the service with any enquiries they have or book an appointment.

“People need to be informed on the options available to them and the team can look at the assistance as well as those important business basics which often gets forgotten.”
“We are offering telephone and online video consultations in light of COVID-19.
Our financial counsellors are proving an essential life line for our small business operators,” she said.
